Tree Rings

This work forms part of my final Master’s dissertation at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Art and Design. It emerged from a voluntarily shared observation of online communication between a couple. Messages, pauses, and repetitions — subtle digital gestures — were gathered over time, revealing rhythms of presence, distance, and return.

Rather than analysing these interactions only through numbers or charts, I chose to give them a body. The frequency of communication is translated into form, allowing hidden rhythms to become visible. What usually exists as fleeting data is slowed down, solidified, and offered for contemplation.

The object does not explain the relationship; it holds its trace. It stands as a physical memory of connection, distance, and recurrence.

Conceived as a gallery piece, the final object is intended to be made from glass — a material chosen for its transparency and vulnerability. The prototype was produced in PVC, serving as a step between raw data and its final, fragile form.
